UK: PhD Studentship in Applied Mathematics, University of Edinburgh

PhD studentship - Parallel solution of block-angular linear programming problems

The School of Mathematics is offering a PhD studentship to study parallel computing techniques for solving large, sparse, block-angular linear programming problems. The studentship is industrially-funded and will run for 3.5 years, starting in September 2008 (or at a later date if desired).It is available to students of any nationality and will cover tuition fees and living expenses. The latter will be about GBP 15,000 per year for a UK/EU national and GBP 10,500 per year for an overseas student.
