PhD Studentship in Orthopaedic Biomechanics, University of Portsmouth, UK

Applications are invited to join our well supported research group, Mechanical Behaviour of Materials (MBM) laboratory (http://www.port.ac.uk/research/mbm) at the University of Portsmouth. The successful candidate will work in the Biomechanics group within the laboratory, and will focus on computer-aided study of femoral-acetabular impingement, a critical clinical problem that may ultimately result in osteoarthritis of the hip. Both computational and experimental methods will be used to gain fundamental insight into the problem, and the student will have support from a postdoc researcher, as well as technical and clinical support.

The studentship pays home/EU fees, plus GBP 12,940 (tax free) per annum stipend. The position is available from 1st February and will last for three years.

The successful applicant should possess a good first or a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or physical sciences.
