The Netherlands: Postdoc Positions in Molecular Phenotyping of Breast and Ovarian Cancer, Netherlands Cancer Institute

Postdoc Positions in Molecular Phenotyping of Breast and Ovarian Cancer, Netherlands Cancer Institute, The Netherlands

This European Seventh Framework program project will benefit from a rich variety of data types measured on a very large number of tumors collected by the participants in this consortium. For example, mRNA expression, genotyping and histo-pathological data will be available for roughly 7000 breast cancer cases, while aCGH and genotyping data will be available for 4000 ovarian cancer cases. The bioinformatics postdoc will be responsible for the development of computational approaches aimed at characterizing the molecular phenotypes of tumors using the rich collection of data sources and to evaluate the association between genetic and environmental factors and (molecular) phenotypes of disease.

Requirements:
The ideal candidates will have a background in one of the following areas: bioinformatics, engineering, computer science, statistics, physics, biotechnology, or biology. Knowledge of fundamental aspects of computer science (algorithms and data structures, programming languages) is required. Knowledge of statistics, artificial intelligence or bioinformatics is highly desirable.
