USA: Postdoctoral Opportunity in Numerical Methods, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Postdoctoral Opportunity at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA

The Computational Mathematics Group in the Computer Science and Mathematics division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is looking for Postdoctoral staff to work on developing new hybrid numerical methods that will provide a self-consistent, seamless multidomain description for multiphysics problems.

We will be exploring an accurate and robust continuous/discontinuous Galerkin method, and apply this new method to computational fluid dynamics problems.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate is expected to have completed their Ph.D. studies in Applied Math, Computational Science, or a related field. The person should have a strong background in numerical analysis, PDE solvers, finite elements and/or finite volumes, and scientific computing. A background in
PDE-constrained optimization and continuum mechanics is desirable. Experience in large-scale parallel code development in C or C++ and the willingness to work in a team environment is essential. Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.
