The Netherlands: PhD Studentships in Hadron Physics, The University of Groningen

PhD Studentships in Hadron Physics, The University of Groningen, The Netherlands

PhD position at KVI, The University of Groningen and GSI have recently set up a collaboration between KVI and GSI. The scienti?c program includes pro jects in the ?elds of accelerator physics, atomic physics, hadron- and nuclear-structure physics.

The hadron-structure research program will address long-standing puzzles in hadron physics such as the con?nement of quarks, the existence of glueballs and hybrids, and the origin of the mass of strongly interacting systems. Those puzzles represent the intellectual challenges that the PANDA (anti-Proton ANnhilation at DArmstadt) experiment of the new FAIR (Facility of Antiproton and Ion Research) facility at GSI will address (http://www.gsi.de/fair/).

In this context, the KVI in Groningen is searching for 1 PhD student in hadron physics. The succesful candidate will work on the properties of charm mesons and baryons for the experimental conditions of density and temperature expected at FAIR and, in particular, in the future PANDA experiment, under the supervision of Prof. Laura Tolos.

If you have a Master degree in a relevant ?eld such as high-energy or nuclear physics and have the perseverance to complete a PhD thesis within four years, you are the candidate for this PhD position. The successful candidate will receive a four-year scholarship of 1583,- gross per month.

Applicants should send a short outline of their knowledge and experience, accompanied by curriculum vitae, and names and email addresses of two referees to
